Eigermilch Grindelwald AG

Eigermilch Grindelwald AG is our collective valley dairy in Grindelwald. The company is majority-owned by local farmers, who are also its suppliers — 65 farms deliver their milk to the dairy in the “Grund” area near the Grindelwald Terminal, where the 15-member Eigermilch team begins processing and marketing the products early each morning. The dairy is managed by master cheesemaker Johann Wittwer, whose work has received multiple awards, including recognition at the World Cheese Awards.

Together, they represent the close connection between farming and production, while strengthening local value creation through short transport routes — showing every day what cooperation in our valley can achieve.

For breakfast at the Fiescherblick, we source a variety of products from Eigermilch, including whole milk, butter, yoghurt, and several younger cheeses. Among them are the Grindelwalder Mutschli (a semi-hard cheese matured for around one month) and the “Weisse Spinne” (“White Spider”), a soft white-mould cheese aged for about two weeks and named after the spider-shaped ice field high on the north face of the Eiger.

Eigermilch products are available at “Eigerness – Der Laden” in the Eiger+ complex near Grindelwald station, as well as at the Kringle.
